We use Cavallo Hoof Boots daily, they have helped us take so many horses barefoot, even if just for a break from shoes. Because the boots protect the sole, they allow the horses to ride on stony paths and not limit their road work.
We also jump in Cavallos if necessary, boot over poultices, and turn out in them if necessary too.
Our Cavallo Hoof Boots played a crucial part in our trek from John O’Groats to Land’s End!
We finished our ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End on 21st July 2018! It was a massive test of endurance for all concerned, and a big test for our Cavallo Trek boots. We were very unlucky with the weather, we had rain pretty much constantly for the first two weeks, and the last four were in a heatwave! This meant we had mud, as well as hard ground, and all the other terrains in between!
On the second day Flicker and Amadeus both fell in a bog! This was a traumatic experience for all of us, but the hoof boots were firmly on when we managed to get out, which was incredible, especially since we were both in shock so definitely wouldn't have been venturing back onto the marsh on foot to find any lost equipment.
We rode on the beach in them (definitely one of our better days). The sand did make the wet boots rub slightly, but the minute they were washed off they were fine. It was so lucky we had them as the pebbles at one end of the beach would have been ridiculously hard on the horses legs and feet without them.
Most importantly, the boots were amazing for the hard ground. For the last four weeks we rarely encountered a soft surface, and the boots protected from concussion and strain to their legs. We weren’t concerned about the ponies’ feet or legs with the amazing shock absorbance. The boots can also be worn over shoes, which is a great idea for competition horses doing essential fitness work!
We wouldn’t be without our cavallo hoof boots now! They are well worth the money, much better for the horses feet and legs, and highly recommended!
